Education 679: Blended Learning Experiences for Students in Urban Schools

This is a screen recording of me graphing the first problem (#1 of Set A). Notice that the "inner function" input box is left blank because the problem only gives us one function.

This is a screen recording of me graphing problem #4 of Set A. This problem involves both an inner and outer function. Note that students will have to use the Domination Property of Integrals to calculate which function goes in which input box if they are not explicitly given that information.

Here is an example of the poster that I would like my students to create. It contain a visual of the solid formed, a decription of what the solid looks like, and calculations showing how the volume was found.

SAMR Model: This lesson falls in the “Redefinition” category of the SAMR model because it enables “activities that were previously impossible in the classroom” (Terada, 2020). WIthout technology, it would not be possible to display the full solid, with its z-axis view and motion of revolution with the precision and speed that online models provide.

This lesson meets the needs of diverse learners because it provides multiple forms of representation (solids displayed on site, physical illustrations, formulas). This lesson scaffolded with practice problems of gradually increasing difficulty, with the goal of having students solve these problems independently. This lesson allows for students to interact and learn from one another by providing collaborative group word opportunities. Finally, this lesson allows for student choice and autonomy by having students create their own solids to present to the class.
